The Village of Homer in Champaign County is seeking applications for a Village Maintenance Superintendent. This job requires a self-starter with an attitude to serve the public. Good communication skills, valid driver’s license, residence in the Homer area is preferred.
This position requires computer literacy, general mechanical knowledge, and capability to operate a variety of machines including a tractor loader backhoe, dump truck, snowplow, and lawn mowers. This job requires lifting 50 pounds frequently. This position assists in repairing water lines, buildings, rolling equipment, and village preventive maintenance procedures. Willingness to obtain continuing education is required.
This position reports to Village Trustees and requires interaction with residents of Homer. Other qualities preferred include: Class “B” water plant license, construction/concrete abilities, welding, college courses or degree.

Homer is a village of 1200 residents in eastern Champaign County, a community with over 150 years of history. Homer began on the banks of the Salt Fork in 1837, moving to its present location in 1855. The village is located five miles south of exit 197 on interstate 74.
