Brush Pick-up Guidelines
Brush Pick-Up Guidelines
The Village offers its residents a monthly service to pick up brush and limbs from home owners’ yards. Some abuses of this service have occurred in the past few months. Village Public Works crews will pick up brush and branches resulting from routine yard maintenance or tree trimming done by homeowners. The program is not intended as a means for homeowners to dispose of entire trees which may have been felled on private property, since no brush with a diameter larger than six inches will be picked up. The burning of these materials is allowed on private property if done in compliance with the burning ordinance.
These guidelines are meant to clarify what is considered appropriate amounts and types of material to be placed on the parkway for pick up.
All brush must originate from home owner’s property.
Brush is defined as tree limbs, shrubs, and branches. No leaves, grass, or other plant vegetation that can not be picked up by hand. Garden debris, grass, straw, weeds, leaves, bedding plants, sod or stumps will not be picked up. Small twigs, pine cones, acorns and other small bundles should be placed in bags or cans for pick up. Grass clippings and other bagged landscape waste will not be picked up with the brush. This type of material should be dropped off at the Village compost facility.
Brush is to be placed in piles no larger than six foot in length, by two foot in width and two foot in height.
Thorns SHALL be separated from the rest of the brush.
Limbs shall not be longer than four feet and no larger than six inches in diameter.
Trees that are trimmed by a contractor shall be disposed of by that contractor.
*If a lift is rented to trim a large portion of a tree or remove a tree completely, the Village suggests you rent a chipper also. The Village will not pick up brush from large trimmings or entire tree removals.
We will pick up brush for a scheduled, one-week period in the spring and the fall.
In addition, brush will be picked up on or around the last Friday of each month.
Anything above these guidelines must be requested through the Village Clerk and
will be scheduled as time allows.
